One of Advent’s entries into the indoor/outdoor wireless speaker market is the 900 MHZ AW810 model. The AW810 is a single speaker that can be powered by an AC adapter or 8 C-cell batteries so that you can just pick it up and move it wherever you want to hear your music. The distance you can move away from the transmitter maxes out at 300 feet and is impacted by any interfering devices you might have, walls, ceilings, etc. The enclosure for the Advent AW810 is water resistant so you can safely listen to your music in places like your kitchen, bathroom, hot tub, swimming pool patio, etc.
The sound quality from this speaker has traditionally been middle of the road which is what you should expect for the price range it falls in. It is designed using a 2-way acoustic suspension which basically allows you to have a smaller enclosure for the speaker and still produce clean, non-distorted bass. The small enclosure makes this speaker even more portable considering it is only a little under eight inches wide, ten inches high, and seven inches deep. Inside the small white bullet shaped speaker is a five inch woofer and a one inch tweeter. You will find that the fifteen watts of power pushed out from the speaker will give you solid sound and generally any issues with sound quality are resolved by raising the volume on your source audio device (your MP3 player or your home stereo). Distortion sometimes results from the volume level on the source not being set at an appropriate level first before turning up the sound on the speaker itself.
You connect the small mouse-shaped transmitter to whatever your source audio equipment is using a 3.5mm audio jack or you can use RCA cables to connect the transmitter as well. There is a small flip-up antenna on the transmitter that is unobtrusive and you’ll have no problem locating the transmitter near your sound system.
