Eos Wireless Speaker System

Eos Wireless Speaker SystemThe Eos Wireless Speaker System from IntelliTouch is an easy to use multi-room wireless speaker solution designed primarily for iPod and MP3 player users. The base station does include a 3.5mm audio jack for connecting other audio devices but this system was specifically designed with the iPod user in mind. The system consists of a base station and up to four remote speakers that operate in the 2.4GHZ wireless band. Many popular cordless phones and wireless computer networks operate at that frequency so you may have to work around some interference but the ideal range is about 150 feet indoors between the base station and the remote speaker, and about 300 feet outdoors.

The standard system comes with a universal iPod docking base, one remote speaker, and a remote control. The dock will actually charge your iPod for you which makes for a nice extra feature for this wireless solution. Inside the base station you will find two tweeters and a down-firing subwoofer which as you might expect radiates sound downward inside the base station. It also features SRS WOW! technology which produces a 3D effect from the speaker which attempts to create sound that seems as if it is coming from multiple speakers around you. This technology works reasonably well but it is no substitute for the real thing.

The remote or satellite speakers are about nine inches tall and each speaker has its own volume and power buttons. The volume level of the base station is completely independent of the volume on the remote speakers and you can use the remote control to adjust the volume on the base station. The satellite wireless speakers have an interesting feature in that the power supply is integrated inside the speaker so you can actually mount a speaker directly on a wall outlet when you plug it in. The speakers do not run on batteries though so even if you don’t hang the speaker on a wall outlet you’ll need to be within striking distance of an electrical outlet. There are two drivers and a ported subwoofer inside the remote speakers producing sound quality that is perfect for using as background music while you are relaxing or working around the house. You can even make use of the auxiliary 3.5mm connection and connect your computer to the system to stream music from your online music throughout the house or office.

Setup of the Eos Wireless Speaker System is very simple. You set a unique ID for your base station and remote speakers, and power everything up. The satellite speakers have a blue light that will blink while it is searching for the base station and once connected it will illuminate solid.
