Long battery life, polished design, and good wireless range are the best attributes of the RCA WSP155 wireless speakers. The expected battery life is probably the biggest difference between this wireless speaker solution and others that are battery powered. These speakers can operate for up to fifteen hours on the 4 D-cell batteries in each speaker. Many wireless speakers that run on batteries tend to top out somewhere around eight hours of battery life. If you don’t need the portability of batteries or just don’t want to have the expense of replacing them you can also run each speaker on the included power cord.
Using the speakers is straightforward. You plug up the transmitter to your music device using either a 3.5mm headphone connection or you can use a “Y” adapter that plugs into the headphone jack and provides you with RCA connections. The transmitter uses a 900mhz frequency and can reach a maximum range of 325 feet. The system includes an autoscan function that will seek out the best frequency available in your environment within the 900 MHZ band to cut down on any interference. You can also manually select a transmission channel if you need to further tweak the quality of the wireless connection. There is also an auto-level control function built-in to the system that automatically adjusts the input signal to a proper level to help prevent distortion or weak signal as a result of your audio device volume being too high or too low.
Visually the speakers have a nice modern, clean look and the silver color helps them to blend in with most any environment. Each speaker has a bass boost option that will attempt to make the bass a little stronger but it really depends on the type of music or sound that you are listening to. Experimenting with the bass boost is the best way to determine if you need it and most of the time you will find it is not necessary.
