These triangular shaped speakers are a great solution for the elderly or those that are hard of hearing to make sound from the television easier to hear and not have to blast everyone else out of the living room. You can of course use the speakers for listening to music as well but with a relatively short fifty foot range you won’t generally be straying too far from the transmitter. The black speaker enclosures are also not weather-resistant which prevents you from having them outside unless you remember to take them back in with you.
The standard system includes a pair of speakers and a sender unit which transmits your sound in the 2.4 GHZ radio frequency. Each speaker includes a volume control, left-right-mono setting, and power button for convenience. There are eight watts of total power in the system with four watts output from a 4 inch woofer and a 1 1/2 inch tweeter in each speaker. You’ll need either eight C-cell batteries or an available wall outlet for power. Unlike the Rocketfish RF-WS02 wireless speaker these do not recharge the batteries for you when plugged in. All of the antennas used in the system are hidden which is a nice touch to improve the looks of the RF-WS01 speakers.
The transmitter is small and the shape brings back memories of the handle on an old car’s manual window crank. It is connected to your audio source using ordinary RCA audio cables and comes automatically paired up with the speakers out of the box. This means that once you hook up the power cables and your sound system you just turn everything on and all of the components should be communicating.
Ultimately if you are looking at these speakers for a surround sound setup or entertaining guests at a party then they are not for you. The sound quality is average, they tend to struggle with lower bass notes, and there is no remote control for adjusting the volume. As previously mentioned they are a great solution for someone who wants to bring the sound from the TV closer without disturbing others, and they work fine for background music. They are priced very affordably which makes them a great choice for use in these situations.
