Futuristic styling and indoor/outdoor capability are the top features of the Sharper Image CT413 Wireless Speakers. The two nine inch tall speakers in the system look like little silver time capsules and can be powered with batteries or an AC adapter. If you go for the battery option so that you can tote them around with you from room to room you’ll need 6 C-cell batteries in each speaker. If you aren’t needing that kind of portability you can even wall mount the speakers which is a great idea for your screen porch or outside patio.
The small ufo-shaped transmitter for the CT413 Indoor/Outdoor speakers continues the futuristic styling motif with this system. It transmits from your iPod, MP3 player, home stereo system, or just about any other audio device using the 900 MHZ radio frequency. The transmitter also employs Phase Lock Loop tuning technology which is designed to seek out the clearest connection between the transmitter and the speakers. Maximum distance between the speakers and transmitter is 150 feet but unless the transmitter and speakers are both located outside you will not likely see that kind of range.
Using the speakers is straightforward. You hook the transmitter to your audio device using the ubiquitous 3.5mm audio jack that you would normally hook headphones to. The speakers should sync up with the transmitter and you can even add two additional speakers for a total of four on one transmitter. A remote control is included in the standard system which you can use to adjust volume and tuning.
