Sony products have dedicated fans and the AIR-SA10 Wireless Speaker is a great way to extend your Sony S-AIR PLAY music system or Bravia home theater system. The AIR-SA10 is a sister product to the Sony AIR-SA15R wireless speaker but does not include a remote control or display song information on the LCD like the SA15R. You can add up to four AIR-SA10 speakers (each contains two four-watt speakers) to your Bravia home theater system and have true wireless sound in any room in your home.
Unlike some wireless speaker solutions you can actually control features such as fast forward, rewind, play, stop, and even choose which audio type you are listening to on your home theater system. For example, you can choose to listen to the AM/FM tuner on your S-AIR compatible sound system and then switch over to the CD/DVD channel just by hitting a button on top of the speaker. You don’t have to return to the room where you primary audio components are. You have the option of listening to the tuner, CD/DVD, digital media port (if you have an iPod hooked up to your main system for example), or the auxiliary input. The only limitation you will run into controlling your system from the speaker is that you can only browse your AM/FM presets, not the entire range of stations. It doesn’t matter what the system in your living room is broadcasting because you can choose to listen to something entirely different thanks to the S-AIR capability of having multiple audio zones. There is a headphone output directly on the speaker in case you have it on the nightstand and want to listen without disturbing your spouse. Many people place these next to the bed because there is a built-in sleep and wake timer so you can drift off to sleep to your music library and wake up to the same the next morning.
The speaker plugs into a wall outlet so you won’t necessarily be moving it around the house but with the ability to add up to four other SA10 speakers you should be able to have pure Sony sound in any location you want it. The system operates in the 2.4GHZ wireless frequency and maxes out around 150 feet of range between your primary system and the speaker.
